The Redmi K series has long maintained a strong presence in the “flagship killer” segment. Now, recent leaks have revealed key information about the next-generation Redmi K100 series, including the codenames, model numbers, and global market plans for two upcoming smartphones.

According to the leaks, Xiaomi is working on two different models in this series. The standard model is the Redmi K100, codenamed “athens” and with model number Q11. The top-of-the-line variant will be the Redmi K100 Pro Max, codenamed “songyuan” and with model number Q11X.

An interesting change related to the model numbers has also been observed. Previously, Xiaomi’s high-end ‘Pro’ series typically used the ‘U’ suffix, but this pattern changed with the Redmi K90 series, which introduced ‘Max’ branding. The new leaks suggest that the ‘U’ suffix is now being replaced with ‘X’, as evident from the K100 Pro Max’s Q11X model number.

This leak is particularly significant for global users. Traditionally, Redmi K series smartphones are not limited to China. According to the report, these devices will be launched in the international market under different names.

The Redmi K100 (athens) is expected to launch globally as the POCO F9 Pro, and the Redmi K100 Pro Max (songyuan) as the POCO F9 Ultra. Previously, Redmi’s performance-focused K series has been rebranded as POCO’s F series in the global market.

Regarding performance, the leaks confirm that both smartphones will feature high-performance processors from Qualcomm. Given the naming convention, especially with the “Pro Max” and “Ultra” tags, it’s speculated that these models could feature a next-generation flagship chipset, possibly a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Overall, these new leaks surrounding the Redmi K100 series suggest that Xiaomi is once again preparing to make a big play in the market with high-end performance and a global rebranding strategy, where flagship technology from the Chinese market will be introduced worldwide through the POCO brand.
