These days, compact flagship phones are becoming increasingly rare. Every brand has moved towards larger displays and bulkier designs. But it seems Xiaomi isn’t entirely ready to follow this trend.
A new supply chain leak suggests that Xiaomi’s upcoming entry-level flagship, reportedly called the Xiaomi 18, might bring a significant design change, without making the phone larger.

Xiaomi 18: A New Display, But with a Different Approach
According to the leak, the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that display manufacturer CSOT has put a new 6.3-inch OLED panel into mass production. This panel has a 1.5K resolution, which might sound less impressive than the 2K panels of Ultra models, but the story isn’t that simple.

This display uses an RGB OLED sub-pixel structure, which is claimed to deliver a pixel density that provides sharpness comparable to 2K. This means text, images, and videos could appear clearer and crisper, especially on a smaller screen size.
The Phone Will Remain Compact, But with Premium Visuals
The leak also clearly indicates that the Xiaomi 18 will maintain its compact dimensions. A 6.3-inch screen size means one-handed usability, which has become rare in flagship phones these days.

Xiaomi’s Smart Focus on Battery Life
Most interestingly, this new panel from CSOT is based on polarizer-free (Pol-less) technology. The advantage of this is that the display will be thinner and consume less power. Battery life has always been a weak point in compact phones, and Xiaomi seems to be trying to solve this problem intelligently.
Final Thought
This leak clearly indicates that Xiaomi is focusing on efficiency and real-world usability rather than simply increasing the size. If these features are reflected in the final product, the Xiaomi 18 could prove to be a strong comeback in the compact flagship category.
