Xiaomi has kicked off the rollout of HyperOS 3.1 Beta, and it’s starting out in China. What makes this release interesting is that the new version is built entirely on Android 16, so not every device will get it right away. For now, only Xiaomi and Redmi models that qualify for Android 16 support are included in this beta wave.

The company has clarified that this is an Engineering Beta Build, and it is not recommended for daily use.

HyperOS 3.1 Beta Eligible Devices List

Xiaomi has rolled out the HyperOS 3 Beta Phase 2 in two waves.

Some Key Changes in HyperOS 3.1

While the main focus of this article is the device list, HyperOS 3.1 includes several important changes:

  • New Stacked Recents Menu, providing an iOS-style app switching experience
  • Improved Super Island feature, with better animations and new Settings controls
  • Home Screen Folder Resize support, including 2×1 and 1×2 folder sizes
  • System Optimisation, resulting in smoother animations and improved Bluetooth connection management

Why Android 16 is Important

Xiaomi has confirmed that the system architecture of HyperOS 3.1 is directly based on the Android 16 Framework. Therefore, this update will not be available on smartphones that will not be upgraded to Android 16. However, the company may port some features to older Android versions in the future.

When will the HyperOS 3.1 Stable Update be available?

According to current information, the HyperOS 3.1 Stable Update is expected to begin rolling out in China in February. Initially, this update will be available for the latest flagship devices and may later reach other eligible devices.

Conclusion

The HyperOS 3.1 Beta rollout clearly shows that Xiaomi is now directly linking software updates to Android versions and hardware eligibility. If your device is eligible for Android 16, you will be among the first to experience HyperOS 3.1.
